Social Value
Collaborating for Greater Impact – Locally and Nationally
We know we’re stronger together. Collaboration runs through everything we do – from co-creating solutions with our customers, to championing change with regional and national partners.
In Bolton, for Bolton
Our Founder and Director, Becci, proudly chairs the Bolton Family Social Value Partnership – a unique collaboration of local businesses, VCSE organisations, and public sector leaders committed to making Bolton a healthier, happier, and more equal town.
Whether it’s co-hosting the annual Pasty & Pledge event or working side-by-side with grassroots changemakers, we’re helping to shape a town where social value is more than a buzzword — it’s a way of doing business.
We also:
-
Co-chair the Brand Bolton Ambassador Board, spotlighting our town as a brilliant place to live, work, study, and invest
-
Contribute to the Visitor Economy Plan, Vision Board, and Bolton Economic Alliance
-
Spend at least 75% of our supplier budget locally, keeping our pound in Bolton
Fair Pay, Better Work
We’ve proudly been a Living Wage Employer since 2016 and actively support the Living Wage Foundation to push for better pay and working conditions nationwide.
As national ambassadors, we:
-
Serve on the National Living Wage Week steering group
-
Host Bolton’s Living Wage event every November
-
Share our journey at events and even in Parliament, showing what’s possible when small businesses lead with purpose
National Movements, Local Heart
We’re also active in national networks focused on values-led business:
-
Member of the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter
-
Longstanding contributors to the Greater Manchester Women & Girls Equality Panel
-
Speakers, collaborators, and connectors at events hosted by organisations like the Association for Coaching, HPMA, and the Universal Coaching Alliance
“We’re a small business with a loud voice — and we use it to make work better for everyone.” – Team Boo
Giving Back to Our Community
Our commitment to community isn’t just a nice-to-have — it’s a core part of who we are. Everything we do is underpinned by our belief that small actions, done consistently and collectively, create real change.
We proudly align our work with the Bolton Family Social Value Pledges, focusing on collaboration, inclusion, wellbeing and social justice. Rather than simply counting hours, we ask ourselves: What difference did it make?
Here’s how we’re bringing our community pledges to life:
-
Championing inclusive recruitment
We’ve supported local organisations with values-based recruitment processes, helping them attract and retain brilliant, purpose-led people. -
Making coaching accessible
Through subsidised places on our coaching qualifications, we’ve opened doors for leaders across Bolton’s VCSE and grassroots sectors — strengthening organisations that are the beating heart of our town. -
Elevating women in leadership
From mentoring to speaking at the GM Women & Girls Equality Panel, we’re committed to amplifying the voices of women and creating equitable pathways to leadership. -
Embedding workplace wellbeing
We’ve offered bespoke wellbeing support to frontline NHS staff, hosted Caring for Your Teams sessions, and continue to champion a culture where mental health matters. -
Building networks that care
As founding members of the Bolton Family Social Value Partnership, we’ve helped grow a network of like-minded businesses committed to doing good while doing business. Together, we’ve hosted events that spark real connection — including those aligned with Living Wage Week, Good Business Week, International Women’s Day, and more. -
Practical support, with heart
We run a Beauty Bank to support women experiencing hardship, volunteer time and resources for local charities, and are proud long-term partners of Age UK Bolton, Backup North West, The Octagon Theatre, and Bolton Wanderers in the Community.
“Social value isn’t a side project. It’s part of our job description. We believe in showing up, pitching in, and helping Bolton thrive – together.” Team Boo
