International Coaching Week – How Becci Came to Found and Lead a Coaching Company

In recognition of International Coaching Week, Becci tells us how and why she came to found and lead a coaching organisation …And considers her favourite coaching question!

Why did I set up a coaching organisation?

Back in August 2012, during the London Olympics and off the back of a successful career in the NHS and a great job within the Co-operative Group, I made the decision to launch Boo.

I was confident that I could coach and teach others to coach and I had a few ideas about what I wanted Boo to become but none were as brilliant as what it has actually become!

I genuinely thought I would do a bit of coaching and see what happened…

Since we launched in 2012, we have done business in a different way. Our learning environment is energetic and vibrant, whilst offering a real challenge which meets the needs of adult learners. Our coaching programmes challenge leaders to reflect on the impact they can have, not only on their teams and organisation but also on the wider system and the communities within which they exist.

Our entire ethos as a company is built on a coaching approach – we are BIG FANS!

In today’s volatile world leaders need to ask rather than tell; the challenges are huge but a coaching approach engenders confidence, encourages collaboration and builds resilience. We want to support customers to build skills and enable the transformational change needed across all workplaces.

We have been privileged to be part of the amazing journeys undertaken by individual clients and when supporting large organisations to embed a coaching culture, we have seen a truly transformational shift as the workforce is empowered to unlock their potential.

But we can’t stop there…

After witnessing this capacity to transform, we passionately believe that coaching has a fundamental role to play in our society at all levels and we are thrilled that we get the opportunity to help others to make a difference.

And what’s my favourite coaching question?

Not so much a question…but I see the power of simple nudges for my clients during the conversation and think that the following really help…I remember this as the acronym TED.

Tell me more…

Explain what good looks like for you…

Describe how you will feel when you achieve this…
