In August 2025, Team Boo celebrates 13 years of creating happy and healthy workplaces.
That’s 13 years of helping bosses be better bosses, coaching for the greater good, and championing cultures where people feel safe, seen, and supported. In this special reflection, our Happiness Ambassador Amy shares what this milestone means to us – and how lace became the perfect symbol of our journey.
Inspired by a speech by Feather Fixer Maura Jackson at our 10th birthday, I looked up the traditional material associated with a 13-year anniversary. The custom of giving precious metals on milestone occasions is centuries old, but the Victorians embellished it – as they did so many things.
For the 13th year, it’s lace.
Lace isn’t usually the starting point. It builds upon the foundation of a serviceable garment and elevates it. Likewise, at Boo Coaching & Consulting, our purpose isn’t to build a workplace culture from scratch, but to upgrade the fabric of leadership that’s already there.
Lace is traditionally a mark of high quality. It shows that someone has taken time and care to transform something functional into something extraordinary. Lace levels up.
It’s also versatile – from knickers to curtains to wedding gowns, lace adds something meaningful and memorable. And just like lace, although we’re best known for our extensive work with the NHS, Boo shows up everywhere – in schools, logistics, construction, and manufacturing.
Lace is delicate, but not fragile. Its threads are fine – yet its strength, flexibility, durability, and beauty come from how it’s woven together.
In the same way, the magic of Boo is woven from countless meaningful connections – to one another, to our customers, and to the brilliant organisations that make up the fabric of our society. We are stronger together.
And finally, like lace, great workplace culture is made of many threads. Here’s to 13 years of helping leaders weave theirs with care and purpose.
