Happy Holi from our Happiness and Wellbeing Coach, Priya

It the most colourful time of the year where we get to celebrate many festivals and connections between people and places such as Passover, Palm Sunday, Easter and Spring Equinox, it’s a time of togetherness. I will be celebrating the Hindu festival of Holi, known to many as the Festival of Colour the onset of Spring and Harvest.
This year Holi will be celebrated over 2 days on the 17th and 18th of March 2022 when we are graced by a New Moon ready for Spring Equinox.
There are many legends and celebrations for Holi which ultimately signifies the triumph of good over evil. The tradition of playing with colours is a celebration of love and unity between Lord Krishna and Radha, when we play with colour everyone is welcome regardless of status, gender, age, race, the colours represent equality and unity, when we are all covered with colour there is no difference in people’s appearance, so judgement is dissolved, and we are left with joy and gratitude.
Every colour means something special;
- Red symbolises love and fertility
- Yellow represents turmeric an ingredient of great importance at auspicious functions across India;
- Blue represents the Hindu God Lord Krishna
- Green is for new beginnings and harvest
Saffron is often associated with Hinduism, piety, and strength this array of colours is a celebration of life.
The spirit of Holi remains the same, it cuts through barriers, classes, gender, religions and brings people together to celebrate the onset of spring by filling our daily life with colours of joy, prosperity, happiness and peace.
