It’s Our 11th Birthday!
Our Happiness Ambassador, Amy, has been reflecting on what 11 years means for Team Boo….
Boo is 11 today!
The internet tells me the traditional gift for an 11th anniversary is something made from steel. My first thoughts about steel where these: commonplace, masculine, industrial …not a huge amount of personality.
Then I thought steel is an alloy; a material made by combining other materials – the unique strengths of which join forces to make a stronger whole.
A ha, that sounds a bit Boo-ish (I thought). Tell me more?
The World Steel Association (not a website I’d expected to be visiting this week) calls steel the Great Collaborator: “working together with all other materials to advance growth and development.”
What else?
- Steel is ubiquitous, globally recognised and valued – (we’d like that)
- Steel works hard.
- Steel is really good at its job.
- Steel has faced the heat. It has been forged with energy, facing repeated stresses to become strong and resilient and versatile. Steel stands firm against time and pressure. Steel can handle it.
- Steel can handle it and remain true to its characteristics and uniform in quality.
- Steel makes an excellent workplace material but its also useful in every aspect of our lives. From spoon to suspension bridge, from scalpel to space station; steel makes sophisticated products at good value for money and can be adapted to make the perfect customer solution.
Its importance cannot be underestimated, and yet steel does not rest on its laurels. It is undergoing improvements all the time – to be the best it can be for the people it serves.
