Happiness at work, Boo style!

Our Organisational Psychologist, Patti, shares what makes us happy at Boo…

 

This week, 19-25^th September 2022 is international week of Happiness at work! Whilst we’ve been sharing content online about happiness, I wanted to give you a sneak peak on the inside of what makes Team Boo happy at work!

I asked each member of the team to share with me their happiest moments at Team Boo and we actually had quite a few in common!

Myself, Priya, Shin and Becci all selected one of our happiest team boo memories to be visiting Haigh Hall when we could all meet up again after lockdown restrictions were lifted. This for me was actually my first-time meeting everyone in person and that is why it was so special for me! We all reflected that first connection together after such a long time was so special, and doing it in nature, walking in the woods was such a special place for us all to reconnect.

Another core happy memory we all had in common was a team trip to the Lake District. We talked, we walked out in nature, we ate delicious food, we learned how to do archery together and had a night of playing card games, chatting, felting and just being together. Priya said “its definitely a happy place memory with Team Boo it allowed me to connect my values, self-care and the team.” And I think that sums it up completely, we were able to connect, do things we loved, get into nature and be together in a completely relaxed environment. The roaring fire place and delicious food helped too!

Our tenth birthday party! A few of the team selected this as their happy memory, Becci said…

“Our 10th birthday party makes me smile so much. Seeing all our friends and families and listening to Maura’s speech are such joyful memories for me and make me feel incredibly happy”.

For me, this was such a wonderful celebration of how far Team Boo has come, seeing all of those wonderful memories hung up with twinkling fairy lights help me to see just how far Team Boo has come over the ten years, and whilst I’ve only joined for the last few, it made me incredibly proud to be part of such a hard working and innovative team! Seeing so many lovely faces there celebrating with us too also reminded me how many people are there supporting us and wishing us the best!

We also all love a good awards night! Whilst we may not have won all of the awards night, the fact that we have been nominated and made our way into the press photos have been wonderful happy memories for us. However…

We did win a lovely award last night that means the world to all of us! We won the Wellbeing award at the Build Back Bolton Business Awards and we are all pretty happy about that!

And finally, getting crafty is one of my happiest memories! I love anything crafty, as do a lot of us in the team! For our Christmas team day, Becci treated us to a wreath making session from Margot flowers and we all got to leave with beautiful Christmas wreaths to hang on our doors. I loved getting into the flow of making something beautiful with my team, all helping each other out with some of the placements and admiring our finished products! We had Christmas music in the background and Helen brought us delicious Christmas treats and it felt like such a magical, soul filling day!

It’s been so lovely reflecting on some of our happiest memories together as a team! Why not take 5 minutes over the next few days to reflect on your happiest moments at work and why these felt so joyful!
