Our in house super hero is off to join the NHS – Amanda says farewell to Team Boo

A Farewell from our wonderful Amanda…

This extraordinary position arose over three years ago and where else but a social value event organised by Boo! Being asked to deliver CPR sessions at a local gym organised by Becci, I met this energetic, compassionate and warm person. During our second session a proposal was constructed allowing me to join TeamBoo, due to my employment experience, whilst undertaking my nursing degree. We both knew or hoped at least, the day would come when I’d qualify and work with Boo would have to cease nevertheless, its been a journey!

TeamBoo do much more than make leaders better leaders, you make people better people. Self-care, resilience, self-reflection, organisational responsibility, collaboration and changing workplace cultures, recording the evaluation feedback over the years, I’ve witnessed the immense multidimensional impact you have on individuals and first-hand, the impact TeamBoo has had on my professional development and wellbeing. You’ve all taught me the power of gratitude, collaboration and being properly selfish, invaluable traits to occupy when navigating such a mentally and physically demanding degree as nursing. Please be proud.

Helen, you are such a warm and generous person, the sessions taught at the trust were insightful and appreciated by all attendees, also the biggest collaborator in #LegoBooGate, I know who to call on for a fellow conspirator!

Shin, you are professional and could organise a herd of cats if tasked to but you also emanate empathy and compassion, you have the intuition to call just at the right moment when cracks are appearing in the world with the ability to articulate a plan and positive perspective, keep using that superpower whilst keeping some energy back for yourself.

Amy, you are simply sunshine, still showing that human element, nothing is perfect but with such gratitude and positivity to brighten most situations or at least the aptitude to endorse that things go wrong but its ok.

Karen, you’ve shown kindness and given your time to assist with invaluable resources, I can tell both you and Priya already emulate TeamBoo values and will grow with them.

Finally, Becci, you have been that same contagious energy and positivity I first met, a true friend, a life changer, supporter and advocate for female leaders, our daughters, positive work culture and values.

This is a premature parting from Boo, opting in to the frontline in a global pandemic was not in the plan. Perspectives and hopes have changed dramatically in just a few weeks. I’ve already experienced one of the toughest incidents of my degree and my main hopes have shifted from desiring a first degree to hoping our patients can feel our kindness, compassion and empathy through layers of green theatre gowns, masks and plastic visors as we try to talk, short of breath, in muffled voices and strain to hear. We are their only comfort, given through double gloved hands, I hope they see kind eyes and feel our compassionate touches, the little reassurances we can give in such a daunting and scary environment, their mental wellbeing is as great a concern as their physical recovery.

Boo has done so much more than be an employer over the past three years, you’ve given me those tools to have the resilience and selfishness essential to survive working in this pandemic.

Keep being awesome and sprinkling magic, forever. TeamBoo! Be kind, Be brave, Be you!

Hasta la vista

All my love, Amanda x
