A very Boo reason to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week

This week is the 15th National Apprenticeship Week and at Boo we have our very own reason to celebrate – we will be starting our first ever Apprentice role from 1st March 2022!
Apprenticeships are a great way for people to work in their chosen career at the same time as continuing their learning. As Team Boo continues to grow, we are really excited to be able to offer an apprenticeship opportunity and believe that like everything else we do, we can do it in true Boo style.
An apprenticeship allows someone to:
- Learn the skills and knowledge of working in a real environment. At Boo this will mean working with all members of the team to gain an understanding of what Team Boo are all about and how the different areas of work and the business all fit together.
- Have at least 20% of the working week allocated to specific training around the role. At Boo this will be even higher than 20% because we are all learning every day!
- Be paid for doing their job. The government sets out that an apprentice will be paid at least the minimum wage of £4.30 per hour. Obviously as Boo is a Living Wage Employer, we will be paying at least the real living wage.
- Have paid holidays as part of the apprenticeship. The government sets this as a minimum of 20 days per year. At Boo this role will be part of our ‘unlimited time off’ policy for holidays.
You may remember that last summer we announced that we would be offering a Kickstart placement; we were lucky enough to find the wonderful Saffron to fill the role. Meet our lovely Saffron here .
After a successful 6 months on her placement, Saffron has decided that she would love to take the opportunity to stay with the team and to move on to the next logical stage of doing an apprenticeship with Boo and will be starting her new adventure on 1st March!
Saffron said:
“The 6 months has gone by really fast at Boo, everyone has been so kind and supportive of me and it has really helped to build my confidence to do a bunch of things I would never have thought to try. Going into unknown territory is a scary feeling for me but knowing that I have everyone at Boo to help me out I know I can do it and I am very excited to be taking part in this apprenticeship journey starting next month.”
