Joshua Smith (aged 11 years) shares his thoughts on how he is coping with the isolation…
How I keep happy
At the minute it is hard to think just positive thoughts so here are some things I do to keep happy. When I joined year 3 in school, I started to play the guitar and now more than ever I have been playing it so you could learn how to play an instrument or if you used to play an instrument you could pick it up again. Also, I have really improved my football skills so I practise them in our garden by doing drills. If you like sport, you could do the global P.E. lesson with Joe Wicks in spare time or go for runs.
What we will gain from this time
Even though we think this time is just ruining our lives, it isn’t. Recently I have picked up a new hobby;make a mosaic rainbow – where you glue little tiles to a back ground that could be anything from a piece of wood to a flower shape and then grout it all. They look lovely when they are finished and it is very relaxing. I have also been sending more messages to my friends on my phone and calling them more.
How it feels from a child
It is hard for me because I am missing seeing my friends at school and not getting to see my family who don’t live in our house. When I’m older I will be saying I lived through the coronavirus and will look back at the memories. I will be glad when I can see all the people I see on a normal school day.
